S&P 500 chalks up record high as fear gives way

Wall StreetThe S&P 500 surged over 1 percent to a record high close on Monday as tropical storm Irma caused less damage than expected in Florida, and after North Korea did not test-fire missiles over the weekend, which some had feared.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 1.19 percent to end at 22,057.37 points in its largest one-day gain since February.
The S&P 500 gained 1.08 percent to 2,488.11 and the Nasdaq Composite added 1.13 percent to 6,432.26.
