Equity
benchmarks maintained uptrend in noon trade on short covering after
yesterday's loss. Banking & financials, FMCG, oil & gas and
infra stocks gained.The 30-share BSE Sensex rose 128.78 points to 26892.24 and the Nifty advanced 40 points to 8243.60. The broader markets also remained firm as the BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices gained 0.4-0.7 percent.
Asia markets stumbled on the final trading day of the week, as a stronger dollar weighed on commodity prices overnight and snapped Wall Street's three-day winning streak.
