Sensex, Nifty firm as Feb F&O series starts; banks down

The market is holding firm as February Future and Options series starts. The Nifty is up 36.55 points or 0.5 percent at 7461.20 and the Sensex is up 106.08 points or 0.4 percent at 24575.65. 

About 986 shares have advanced, 698 shares declined, and 89 shares are unchanged.

Coal India, GAIL, Sun Pharma, ONGC and HDFC are top gainers while ICICI Bank, SBI, Axis Bank, Maruti and Bharti Airtel are down.
