The S&P BSE Sensex slipped over 100 points on Monday tracking mixed trade seen in other Asian markets.
The Nifty50 also fell below its crucial psychological level of 7,850.
Shares of Vedanta, GAIL slipped up to 2 per cent in trade while those of Adani Ports, Asian Paints and SpiceJet gained up to 3 per cent.
The broader market outperformed the benchmark indices with the BSE midcap and BSE smallcap indices gaining 0.28 and 0.65 per cent in trade. Among the sectora indices, the BSE Consumer Discretionary index was the top gainer, up 0.85 per cent.
