Asian shares traded mixed early Tuesday, as investors digest an Australian leadership change and await a central bank decision in Japan.
China’s Shanghai Composite index declined 1.85 percent, trimming losses slightly after opening down 2.3 percent.
Nikkei jumps 1.2 percent Japan’s Nikkei 225 index widened gains ahead of the Bank of Japan’s (BOJ) policy decision, which is due before noon.
South Korea’s Kospi index pared early gains to dip back into neutral territory.
