Asian shares followed their US peers lower on Friday despite upbeat global economic data as profit-taking set in amid low trading volumes. Japanese markets remained closed and will resume trade on January 6.
China’s Shanghai Composite shed 0.90 percent or 19.02 points at 2,090.37.
Hong Kong’s Hang Seng slipped 1.86 percent or 435.24 points at 22,904.81.
Singapore’s Straits Times declined 0.53 percent or 16.72 points at 3,157.93.
South Korea’s Seoul Composite fell 0.93 percent or 18.28 points at 1,948.91.
Taiwan’s Taiwan Weighted was down 0.65 percent or 56.10 points at 8,556.44.
