Asian equities kicked off the week higher on Monday as investors took cues from the S&P 500′s record high last week as investors bet on extended US monetary stimulus. Japan’s Nikkei rose to a three-week high and South Korea’s Kospi hit new multi-year highs. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng rose 0.53 percent or 123.88 points at 23,463.48. Japan’s Nikkei added 0.69 percent or 100.49 points at 14,662.03. Singapore’s Straits Times was up 0.38 percent or 12.10 points at 3,205. South Korea’s Seoul Composite was flat at 2,051.19. Taiwan’s Taiwan Weighted was flat at 8,435.15. China’s Shanghai Composite was flat at 2,192.90.
