Stocks ended little changed on Monday, with indexes hovering
near record levels as concerns about a correction cut earlier gains that
had been prompted by news about a flurry of acquisitions.
The Dow Jones industrial average slipped 19.12 points, or 0.12 percent, to 15,335.28 at the close. The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index shed 1.18 points, or 0.07 percent, to finish at 1,666.29. The Nasdaq Composite Index declined 2.54 points, or 0.07 percent, to end at 3,496.43.
