Epic Update : Nifty pare some of initial gains

The S&P BSE Sensex gave up half of its gains in early Monday afternoon trade, after a stellar opening saw it jump nearly over 200 points in opening trade. The 50-share Nifty index also slipped below its key psychological level of 5700.

The Sensex is up 115.79 points or 0.62 percent at 18851.39, after touching an intraday high of 18,950.22. The Nifty is up 37.60 points or 0.67 percent at 5688.95.
