In the US, the Dow and S&P 500 gained to finish at
five-year highs in choppy trading, ahead of President Barack Obama’s
state of the union address. The CBOE volatility index ended below 13.Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 0.34% or 47.46 points at 14018.7. Nasdaq Composite shed 0.17% or 5.51 points at 3186.49. Standard & Poor’s 500 rose 0.16% or 2.42 points at 1519.43.
