Industries will be adding 80 MW of electricity generation capacity in
the power-starved state of Tamil Nadu. The company as part of its Rs
2,500-crore expansion project, is putting up 160 MW copper smelter plant
at Tuticorin, near the southern tip of Tamil Nadu, which consists of
two coal fired units of 80 MW each, at a cost of Rs 650 crore.
