The Dow Jones rose 115.57 points, or 0.87 per cent, to 13,350.96 at the close, while S&P 500 gained 16.43 points, or 1.15 per cent, to 1,446.79.Talks on US fiscal cliff seemed to head in the positive direction as both House Speaker John Boehner made compromises on tax rates and spending cuts to move forward in making a deal happen.
The Nasdaq Composite added 43.93 points, or 1.46 per cent, to 3,054.53.
Asian markets are trading higher with the Nikkei over a percent up.
Hang Seng index has moved higher by half a percent while Kospi index and Shanghai index are marginally up.
